Dominic Cooper published four novels with Faber & Faber between 1975-87, the first of which, The Dead of Winter, won the Somerset Maugham Award (alongside Ian McEwan's debut). Then, as he told Mr Myers, 'writing walked away from me. I ran out of words.' Now aged 71, this chapbook — aside from one work that recently appeared in New Statesman — contains the first poetry Mr Cooper has ever published.
Benjamin Myers is an award-winning writer. His works include the novels Turning Blue, Beastings, Pig Iron, Richard, the novella Snorri & Frosti and the poetry collection Heathcliff Adrift. His latest novel The Gallows Pole has been very favourably reviewed and is on its fourth printing.
