Joaquín Pasos was born in Granada, Nicaragua, on the shores of Lake Nicaragua (Cocibolca) on 14 May 1914 and died on 20 January 1947. Although his life was brief and his poetic output small, he is one of Nicaragua’s most important poets. The first collection of his tender, irreverent, surreal poetry, Poemas de un joven, edited by his friend and fellow poet Ernesto Cardenal, was published in 1962.
Roger Hickin has published translations of Nicaraguan poets Joaquín Pasos, Carlos Martínez Rivas, Ernesto Cardenal, and Blanca Castellón, and Mexican poet Rogelio Guedea. His most recent publications are a literary biography: Roderick Finlayson: A Man from Another World (2022), and Residual Gleam, selected poems and translations (2023). He is currently at work on a biography of the New Zealand poet Peter Olds. He lives in Lyttelton, Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Walking Wounded Series is an erratic beast. Titles will be released in sporadic bursts over the coming years. 53 titles by 53 different authors, in an edition of 53 numbered copies each.
